We photographed it in Nauta, a river town south of Iquitos, a few miles from where the Marañón and the Ucayali meet and become the Amazon. It is hot and humid. In the late afternoon the light turns orange and stays that way for a while. Everything, including you, slows down. That is the idea behind the collection.

The palette is mostly heat: tangerine and fuchsia, scarlet and dusty red, lime green and butter yellow, with cobalt and royal blue for contrast. It runs through hand-crocheted dresses, skirts and tops, striped and ombré knits in pima cotton, linen-cotton tailoring, cotton-silk separates and a pareo woven on a loom.

Everything is made in Peru, with people we work with directly.

The knits are made in Lima. The crochet, macramé and embroidery come from four artisan collectives whose members work across Áncash, La Libertad, Lima, Puno and Cusco. The handwoven cloth is made on looms in Huancavelica. The clothes come from the coast and the Andes, and the pictures come from the Amazon. In essence, Peru.

The day doesn't really end there.
